A Gothic Classic Pop-Up Book

This card was made for Craft Roulette #237 whose parameters included a pop-up card, Trick or Treat colors, boutique, and jewelry.

I chose to make Mary Shelley’s gothic novel Frankenstein as a pop-up book card using dies by Scrappy Tails.

Watch the process video to see how I made this card.

Cardbase: The card base is made using the Scrappy Tails A7 Pop up Book die set. (I apologize for not having included video of the frame assembly.) The accordion fold pages frame that goes inside the book card can be seen in an assembly video by the designer by clicking here.

Sentiments: The β€œHalloween Greetings” is a stamp from PoppyStamps. The β€œBoo-tique Books specializing in Gothic Novels” was computer generated and die using a label die from the Scrappy Tails Life is a Story die set.

Envelope: The card fits into a catalog (6×9-inches) size envelope. β€œThis book belongs to…” is stamped in black on the envelope flap.

A CAS’ed Birthday Card

This card was made for Craft Roulette #236 whose parameters included use a small bag, cornucopia colors, CAS a card from Craft Roulette #235 submissions and splatters.

Cardbase: I used a purchased 5×7 gatefold cardbase and envelope.

Card Front: Terre’s card in the Craft Roulette #235 Contributions Gallery was the card I based my card front on. I changed up the dark starry paper to a more colorful ink blended background with white splatters instead of star shapes. I used a red ringed planet instead of earth as the center focal point but stamped β€œHBD2U” in the upper left corner, where Terre had put her sentiment, and also in the lower right corner to balance the elements.

Pop-Up Bag: Inside the card is a small gift bag that pops-up to hold a small sealed bag of sequins and shaker elements. The dies that make the bag and the pop-up mechanism arm are by Karen Burniston. The mechanism arm if installed just as it is in the assembly video for the Flip Frame Pop-Up but the Mini Gift Bag back is attached to the arm rather than the frame and the bottom of the bag is glued to the cardbase. The bag is made from thin decorative paper and the handles are hemp cording.

Sentiments: β€œHBD2U” Happy Birthday” and β€œAn itty-bitty gift for your big day!” are all stamped in black ink using the Craft Roulette Funn Sentiments #01 stamp set. The β€œInspired by Craft Roulette, Made by” and cat head stamps are from the Craft Roulette The basics set.

Envelope: The card fits into an A7 (5x 7-inches) size envelope.

World Card Making Day Card

This card was made to celebrate World Card Making Day and Craft Roulette episode #235 whose parameters were: not a single-fold A2 size card, mood board colors, world element and star.

I cased a card I had previously made and posted back on September 30, 2024 changing the patterned papers, scarf/steering wheel colors and adding a star to the plane’s tail. This card uses Simon Says Stamp! Stamptember with Riley & Company’s Fly By stamp set. (The Simon Says Stamp! Fly BY is sold out, but you can use this Riley & Co. Airplane Riley stamp set instead.) It also uses pop-up dies by Karen Burniston.

Watch the video to see how this card was made.

INSIDE: Plane and banner are interactive because they are on Karen Burniston’s Katherine Label Pop-Ups. The plane moves left and the banner moves right as the card is opened. The window frames on the card front panel were created from dies in Karen Burniston’s Twist Panel Pop-Up.

SENTIMENTS are all from the Riley & Company’s Fly By stamp set. “Flying by to say…Happy Birthday” and “Life is a journey. Enjoy the flight.”

CARD BACK: Signature and Craft Roulette inspired for World Card Making Day stamp with aviator’s cap.

ENVELOPE: Card fits into an A7 5×7-inch envelope stamped with “Your plane awesome: and some clouds.

A Haunted Chair In The Pumpkin Patch

It’s time for the October 2024 Karen Burniston Design Team Challenge with the theme of a haunted location. I chosen an Adirondack chair in a pumpkin patch to be haunted.

Watch the process video to see how the card was assembled.

Cardbase: Cut two 5 1/2 x 11-inch rectangles from black cardstock. Fold each rectangle in half to form two 5 1/2-inch square top fold cards. Two pieces of patterned paper from Graphic 45 were used to cover the inside floor and front card cover.

Adirondack Chair: Watch the assembly video for the Adirondack Chair located at the bottom of the linked page.

Ghost Mechanism: Watch the assembly video for the Spinner Square Pop-Up located at the bottom of the linked page. The ghosts are from the Halloween Charms set and were cut once from white cardstock and had their eyes and mouth stenciled on using the die. They also were cut from glow-in-the-dark paper for their backs and to hide the black mechanism arm.

Decorations: The large pumpkins are from the Autumn Elements set and the smaller jack-o-lantern and green hands are from the Halloween Elements set. The background pumpkins were cut from the Graphic 45 papers. The black cat on the chair is from the Skeleton and Bat set. The Slim Pattern Plate – Spiders was cut from pearlescent vellum and the spiders colored black. Then it was placed on the diagonal on the card front.

Sentiments: The card front uses the “Happy Halloween” from the Halloween Charms set while the inside uses a Spellbinders BetterPress “Happy Haunting” sentiment. Other inside sentiments – “Boo!” “Sit for a spell” and “Hey Pumpkin” – are cut from the Graphic 45 papers.

Envelope: The card will fit into a 6×6-inch square envelope or a 6×9-inch catalog envelope.
