Milk Shake Birthday Card

This card was made for CRAFT ROULETTE #288 whose parameters included a celebration card, on the ground colors, goes well together element, and block(s). Today’s card uses Spellbinders and Karen Burniston dies as well as stamps by Riley and Company. Glitter hearts are from Trinity Stamps.

Cardbase: I used a purchased plaid A2 (4.25×5.5-inch) card base and envelope.

Card Front: The new Spellbinders Fountain Wishes die set was used to make the milkshake and blue bird with a party hat. Many of the tiny pieces were cut from white cardstock and colored with markers. The bird and waffle fan were also inked with Distress Ink for shading. The chocolate sauce was covered in clear packing tape before die cutting.

Happy Birthday Pop-Up: All the dies used to make this pop-up mechanism and sentiment are by Karen Burniston – Happy Birthday and Shadow, Katherine Label Pop-Up.

Sentiments: The inside stamped sentiment is Funny Bones by Riley and Company. The front sentiment is a Spellbinders BetterPress plate Fountain Wishes Sentiments.

Envelope: Back flap is stamped with Funny Bones by Riley and Company and another bird from the Spellbinders Fountain Wishes die set.

Dress-Shaped Card

This card was made for Craft Roulette #268 whose parameters included a card for a student, modern colors, clothing element, and abstract blob(s). I made an A9  shaped-card of encouragement for a student of life.

Watch the process video to see how I made this card.

Cardbase:  Using a 5.5×8.5 sheet of paper fold in half- long ways and draw one side of a dress. Cut the dress out and use as a pattern to trace for two dresses on an 8.5×11 sheet of cardstock. Add tabs to shoulders of one dress as hinges to create the shaped card.

Sentiments:  All the sentiments are stamped using rubber stamps from Riley & Company’s Funny Bones collection, except for the “Go Girl Go” which was die cut using Karen Burniston’s Mini Alphabet die set.

Envelope:  The card fits into a catalog envelope (6×9-inches).

Button Heart Gate Fold Aperture Birthday Card

This card was made for Craft Roulette #250 whose parameters included a funn fold card, nostalgic colors, blanket element and buttons.

Watch the process video to see how I made this card.

Details and supplies used are below.

Cardbase: Cut a 5.5×12-inch piece of light pink cardstock. Score at 2-inches, 4-inches, 8-inches and 10-inches. Fold as shown in video. On the gate fold panels, place heart die with center points over the fold and die-cut. Repeat on other side lining up the die to make a mirror image. I used the third largest die in Karen Burniston’s Hearts – Crosshatch set.

Buttons: I cut 70 buttons from four shades of pink cardstock. Using thin cotton string, thread the buttons’ holes and hand-tied knots to all of the card front buttons. The buttons were cut using Karen Burniston’s Sewing Charms die set.

Sentiments: All sentiments stamped in black ink on two rectangular panels cut using Karen Burniston’s Rectangles Crosshatch die set. “Happy Birthday is by Rubbernecker Stamps and the other two sentiments are Riley and Company’s Funny Bones stamps.

Envelope: The card fits into an A2 (4.25×5.5-inch) size envelope. A die-cut button was glued to back flap to hint at whats to come.

Coffeeology

Some of us love the smell of a dark roast coffee. Others love a pumpkin spice latte. All of us need sometimes to just stop and smell the coffee and appreciate life. This is one of two coffee cards this week. Look for another tomorrow.

Designed around the Funny Bones Coffeeology rubber stamp on the card front, the inside pops up with a take-out cup of coffee that doubles as a gift card holder. All the dies used to make this card are by Karen Burniston.

I recommend watching the assembly video for the coffee cup pop-up before starting this card. The inside of the card mimics the card Karen Burniston demonstrates in the video for an A2 top fold card.

For the card front, I stamped the sentiment on a 3×3-inch square and glued diagonally over a 4×4-inch piece of decorative paper. The three tiny vessels of coffee come from the coffee charms die set. (See charm assembly video.) White steam was added using a medium tipped opaque white marker with detailed swirls of a white gel pen. Throughout the card there are inked coffee beans that were cut out of brown cardstock and covered using a mini cube of Distress Ink in walnut stain. The beans are in the coffee cup pop-up die set.

The card back has another 4×4-inch piece of decorative paper and is a place to write a lengthy personal message.

As is my style, the envelope back has a die-cut coffee mug with a heart that hints at what is inside.
