Sailboat Pop-Up: This pop-up is made with two die sets – the base is the Boat Pop-Up and the sails, pendant, railing, life preservers and anchor are all in the Sailboat Add-Ons set.
Cardbase: The card base is made up of two rectangles On 4 x8 1/2-inches and the other 4 x 8 3/4-inches. The longer piece is scored at 8 1/2-inches for the tab to glue to back of the other piece. The card front scene is made from waving water paper brushed with glitter gloss and Distress Oxide ink and a large blending brush. The birds are hand-drawn. The porpoise is from the Set Sail Bordersdie set. On the card back is a border of shells from the Set Sail Bordersdie set and colored with alcohol markers.
Sentiments: The card front “waving hello” is die-cut letters from the Mini Alphabet and the “hello” is from the Just A Note Lorna Add-Ons. The stamped sentiments inside the card are from the Sail Awaystamp set. A white label inside is for a personal message and was cut from the Labels – Crosshatch die set.
Envelope: The card fits into a #10 business envelope stamped with “Always take the scenic route” from the Sail Awaystamp set.
Cardbase: Cut an 11x 6-inches rectangle of lightweight cardstock and fold in half to create a 5 1/2 x 6-inches card base with a side fold. Cover with decorative paper on the outside and inside of front panel before cutting with largest square die from the Squares – Crosshatch. Once the square has been cut, attach inside back decorative paper matching front design.
Accordion Frame: Die-cut two Fancy Label Accordion frames from a decorative print cardstock as directed in PDF instructions. Make sure you add the decorative label die inside the pivot panel before you die cut, so that you will make the pivot panel into a frame.
Attach to card base as directed in PDF instructions. Use tree trunk and hearts dies to decorate tree panel.
Tree-Add-On Panel: Replace the Trees Add-Ons for the Hearts Add-Ons in the PDF instructions. I cut out tree frames on the first and third panels by first die cutting the whole panel and then die cutting twice more with the cloud shaped tree leaves dies and tree trunk dies in the Trees Add-Onsset. I cut two more of the tree shaped frames to cover and reinforce the back side of the tree panel.
Attach to pivot panel and card as shown in PDF instructions.
Sentiments & Decorations: I used printed sentiments and border strips from the paper collection to finish decorating the card covering all of the green cardbase.
Envelope: Fits into a 6×9 catalog envelope with a back flap decorated with decorative paper strip.

Cardbase: Three Fancy Label Accordion frames were cut from heavy black cardstock and the fronts were decorated with Fancy Solid Framecut from a one-sided paper of records with a definite top and bottom to the pattern. (I cut three sets of frames going horizontal on the decorator paper and three sets going vertical on the paper to have enough frame pieces to have the pattern work.) Don’t glue the back side frames on until the three frames are joined together.
Decoration of Fancy Labels: The labels were cut using the Fancy Label Accordion set’s frame and largest decorator label dies. I used printed vellum on all three panels. The end panels had an additional frame cut out so the vellum could be framed. My original plan was to let light go through them. (I later changed my mind and glued white labels on the back side for personal messages.)
See the photos for how I taped the frame and additional black cardstock label piece together and die-cut matching frame pieces. The center panel was decorated with a full-size label of vellum topped with a smaller label and music staff and notes from the Music Charms set.
Sentiments: There are three sentiments on the card – “Turn up the volume,” “You Rock!” and “Thank You.” The first two were stamped using the Music Sentiments clear stamp set with clear ink and then heat embossed with gold embossing powder onto a piece of vellum and a frame piece of cardstock. (The frame piece is hard to see in the photos. It is in the right-hand corner below the “Thank You.”) The Thank You is die cut using the new Shadow die for it. It is coated with a glitter gloss for more sparkle.

Cardbase: I used double-sided patterned paper and cut a 4 x 12-inch rectangle and folded it in half.
Trees Pop-Up: From coordinating patterned paper, I cut the Tree Add-Onsmain die and scored it at 6-inches from either end. The tabs created by this scoring are what will be glued onto the card. To attach the pop-up, train all the folds and flatten them out. Place the center fold of pop-up over center fold of card. Fold back tabs and glue in place. Decorate pop-up using dies in the set. A white fence was added to the center of the pop-out using a die in the Farm Edges set.
Sentiments: The “Happy Birthday” on the card front is from the new Happy Birthday Lorna Add-Ons die set. Inside is a stamped and heat embossed sentiment “It’s your birthday. Hope it is wonderful” made up of four different stamps in the Birthday/Belated clear stamp set. The middle size crosshatch die in the Labels – Crosshatch set was used to created the inside sentiment and personal message labels.
Envelope: This card fits into an A6 envelope which was decorated with a border strip from the patterned paper collection.
This card was made for Craft Roulette #220 whose parameters included for a card for a dude, dragon colors, basket(s) and chart(s).
I chose to make a fishing lure pop-up birthday card using stamp and dies by Stampin’ Up, HoneyBee Stamps, Karen Burniston and Waffle Flower.
Cardbase: I started with an A6 (4 1/2 x 6 1/4-inches) sized purchased cardbase with matching envelope.

Making characters for cards can be fun. Several people have asked for a video on how I made the pirate characters on my 2023 pirate ship birthday card. These characters were inspired by ones John Watterson had made and shown on Karen Burniston’s Facebook Pop-Up Peeps page. Here is a video showing how I made them.
It’s time for the Karen Burniston June 2024 Design Team Challenge with the theme of using border dies.
I wanted to get a jump on my end-of-the-year holiday cards by making a baking themed card with pies and gingerbread men from the Baking Borders and Christmas Borders 1 set. The rolling pin and chef’s hat are also in the Baking Borders set. Additional die sets used were: Oven Pop-Up, Tiny Gnomes, and the Fancy Label Accordion. (A 1 3/4-inch square die was used from the Frame Pull Pop-Up set, but any 1 3/4-inch square die could be used. This was the one I had handy.)

Cardbase: Cut three of the largest die in the Fancy Label Accordion set from a butterscotch-colored heavy cardstock. Work the scored fold-lines. Wait to until after making and attaching the oven shaker to glue the frames together.
Shaker Oven: Cut ten ovens from red cardstock and two additional ovens from coated red cardstock using the oven die from the Oven Pop-Up set. Trim off stove top section on all 12 pieces. From the two coated cardstock stove top pieces, trim off the back where knobs go and save. Layout oven with stove back on one panel of the cardbase. Mark the outside edges of oven lightly with pencil. Center 1 3/4-inch square die within the oven square and die cut. (You may want to use a ruler to find the center of the fancy label and center the die left to right with the center line. The die will be below the true center up and down because of the stove back piece.)
Glue five of the plain cardstock oven pieces to either side of the cardbase over the square opening. This will form the shaker base. Cut two 2-inch square pieces of clear acetate/plastic. Attach one piece of acetate/plastic with double-sided tape to the top of stacked oven pieces. Turn over and fill shaker with confetti and tiny cookie shapes from the Oven Pop-Up set. Attach the second piece of acetate/plastic with double-sided tape to seal up the oven shaker.
Cut two 1 1/2-inch square pieces of clear acetate/plastic. Adhere to the back of oven doors on the remaining two coated oven pieces using double-sided tape. With more double-sided tape added to the outer edges of the oven pieces, attach them over the shaker acetate/plastic. Glue the stove back with knobs attached to the cardbase above the ovens on both sides.
Pies, Gingerbread Men and Rolling Pins: Cut two strips of pie bases from the Baking Borders set. Color one strip all red .(I used a red glitter brush.) Color four orange and four baked apple yellow on the other strip. Cut out four of each of the pie tops. Ink the pie top to look like browned crusts with maybe some burnt tips of the crusts. Glue lattice pie crust to apple yellow pies, the open ring crust onto the pumpkin orange pies and the flower shaped crusts onto the red pies. Cut all the pies into separate circular pieces. Glue pies to the top and bottom of the front and back panel frames of the card base.
Cut two strips of gingerbread men using the die in the Christmas Borders 1 set. Using a white gel pen with a fine tip, trace the icing onto the men using the stencil feature of the die. Cut men apart and glue to sides of the front and back panel frames of the card base.
Cut two strips of the rolling pins from a kraft colored cardstock using the die from the Baking Borders set. With a red fine-tipped marker stencil on the hearts and color all the handles. Trim the strips to fit the top and bottom of the middle panel frame. Save one of the leftover rolling pins for the chef to hold.
Chef: From the Tiny Gnomes set, cut two of the body piece and one mustache from white cardstock. From flesh colored cardstock cut the head, nose and hands. From black cardstock cut the shoes. With a fine tipped pen, trace the eyes using the stencil feature of the head die. Color the mustache brown or gray. Cut one chef’s hat from white using the die in the Baking Borders set. Using the rolling pin die to stencil a red heart onto the chef’s hat.
To assemble, cut one body piece to have an apron in the center and an arm on either side. (See video for visuals of this.) Glue apron onto other body piece and then head. Added mustache then nose to head. Glue arms onto back of body wide enough to hold a rolling pin. Glue rolling pin to end of arms and then add hands on top of rolling pin handles. Attach shoes and hat.
Sentiments: “Happy Holidays” comes from Word Set 3-Holidays. The labels behind it and the chef are from the decorator dies in the Fancy Label Accordion set. Personal messages can be written on the back of the panels.
Envelope: The card fits into an A7 size envelope decorated with leftover pies and rolling pins on the back flap.
