Cowgirl Graduation Card

It’s Sneak Peek Week for Karen Burniston’s June 2025 release of ten new dies and five new clear stamps. For this cowgirl graduation card, I used several of the new sets including Leaping Animals, Movie Night Charms and Rainbow Add-Ons die sets and Movie Night stamp set.

Watch the process video to see how I made this card.

Cardbase:  Cut a 5×7-inch A7 cardbase from brown kraft cardstock. (I used a purchased cardbase and envelope.) Cover the inside with decorative paper. Clouds and sun are cut using the Rainbow Add-Ons die set.

Pop-Up:  Watch the assembly video at the bottom of the linked page for the Stocking Pop-Up as well as the video above.

Horse and Fence:  Cut one tan unicorn body from the Leaping Animals die set and from dark brown cut the tail and mane pieces. (I cut three of the tan because my cardstock was less than 80lb weight.) Use the die stencil features to draw in the horse’s eye, mouth, nostril and hooves with a thin black marker. Cut one fence from heavy white cardstock using the Farm Edges die set. Glue fence to top edge of pop-up over piece and glue horse to inner pop-up tombstone piece.

Cowgirl:  Cut out one body, one hair style, one pair pants, one collared shirt, and one women’s short sleeved top from the Paper People die set. Cut one scarf bandana and two pair of cowboy hat and boots from the Tiny Accessories 3 set. (One set of hat and boots will be used on envelope.) I used a white brush marker to age the jeans and brown ink to age the hat and boots. The brown vest was made by cutting off the sleeves of the women’s top and cutting it up the middle. The front corners of each side were trimmed off to make a matching “v” similar to the neckline of the vest. The shirt and jeans were trimmed to fit under the vest. Boots were also trimmed to fit under the jeans. A piece of hemp cording was looped and glued together before adhering under the cowgirl’s hand.

Movie Elements:  Cut out of charcoal gray the film strip, film reel film and the clapper board “V” dies from the Movie Night Charms set. Cut the clapper board large base piece from white and color in the top “V” with red marker. Use thin black marker and die stencil feature to ink in the board’s lines. Cut one reel die from silver foil cardstock. Cut off all charm loops from clapper board and film reel. Assemble as shown in video above. Fill film strip with photos. (I used digital images that were resized on computer and printed on computer paper that was covered with clear packing tape.)

Sentiments:  All the sentiments were stamped using the Movie Night stamp set with in black ink. “Ooh, plot twist!” was cut out using the smallest oval die in the Rectangles and Labels – Crosshatch die set. “Can’t wait to see what you do next!” and “Lights, Camera, Celebrate!” were cut out using the oval die in the Lorna Label Pop-Up set. “And the award for totally crushing it goes to…YOU!” was cut out using the smallest fancy label die in the Rectangles and Labels – Crosshatch die set.

Envelope:  The card fits into an A7 (5x 9-inches) size envelope with a die cut a cowgirl hat and boots the back flap using the Tiny Accessories 3 set.

Glitter and Unicorns to Celebrate Your Birthday!

It’s Sneak Peek Week for Karen Burniston’s June 2025 release of ten new die sets and five new clear stamp sets. For this interactive glitter unicorn birthday card, I used several of the new dies including the Leaping Animals, Display Helpers, Whirly Wheel and Rainbow Add-Ons as well as the stamps in Birthday Magic and Movie Night sets.

Watch the process video to see how I made this card.

Cardbase: An 5.5×8.5-inch sheet of light weight white cardstock was scored and folded into a side-fold 4.5×5.5 size card. Watch the video above to see how I cut the half circle into the card and cut my decorator panels of patterned cardstock using the Rectangles – Crosshatch dies.

Unicorns: I used four unicorns on the card made with the Leaping Animals die set. Watch the video above to see how to assemble the animals. There are five dies needed for the unicorn – body, underbelly, horn, mane and tail. Cut the tail, mane and underbelly from pink, horn from gold and body from white.

Whirly Wheel: Cut one wheel and one large thermometer from sturdy pink cardstock using the Whirly Wheel die set. Cut one washer from a sturdy cardstock. (Color doesn’t matter as it will be hidden.) Using stencil feature, ink in arrows on the wheel (or use the Whirly Wheel Words stamp set.) Assemble wheel as shown in video above.

Lorna Label Pop-Up: Watch either the video above or the assembly video located at the bottom of the page linked to the Lorna Label Pop-Up.

Sentiments: The sentiments were stamped using the glitter and unicorns sentiment and “Let’s celebrate!” from the Birthday Magic stamp set. The “Happy Birthday” from the Movie Night set.

Display Helpers: Using the lift dies from the Display Helpers, install at either side of the Lorna Label Pop-Up following the video above. (Using the Display Helpers stamp set, you can stamp out a note to include in your card that says “Lift the tab for display and lower the tab to close the card.”)

Envelope: The card fits into an A2 (4.25x 5.5-inches) size envelope with a die-cut heart from the Lorna Label Pop-Up set glued to the back flap.

Going Wild for a Double Rainbow Birthday!

It’s Day One of Sneak Peek Week for Karen Burniston’s June 2025 release of ten new dies and five new clear stamps. For this double rainbow birthday card, I used several of the new sets including Arch Pop-Up and Rainbow Add-Ons die sets and Rainbow Greetings stamp set. This card was also made using Craft Roulette #270’s parameters of an A7 card, 1980s colors, interjection!!!, and include an arch.

Cardbase:  I used an A7 (5×7-inch) purchased kraft cardbase and matching envelope. The front panel is covered with a 4.5×6.5 sheet of decorative paper.

Arch Pop-Up:  Cut out the two large arch dies in the Arch Pop-Up from solid 65-80lb. cardstock. Assemble the arch by gluing the two halves together and then adding the rainbow strips which were cut using double-sided adhesive tape and the Rainbow Add-Ons die set. Make a second arch. Trim off the bottom tabs of the second rainbow and fold the feet of the arch to form tabs of a similar size to what was cut-off. Glue the largest arch into the card first and add the second rainbow checking for catchpoints. Decorate with the rainbows with the sun and clouds in the Rainbow Add-Ons.

Animals:  The animals come from the previously released the Monkey and Lion and the Safari Animals die sets.

Sentiments:  Other than the die-cut “Go Wild!” all the sentiments were stamped using the Rainbow Greetings stamp set in black ink on white cardstock. Inside the card, “Wishing you sunshine and rainbows” was cut out using the smallest fancy label die in the Rectangles and Labels – Crosshatch die set with the larger crosshatch fancy label being used for the personal message label. On the card front, “Happy Birthday” was cut out using the oval die in the Lorna Label Pop-Up die set.

Envelope:  The card fits into A7 (5×7-inches) size envelope with the back flap covered with decorative paper.

Follow the directions in the process video above for the modifications made to these die sets for the specific characters. For the Witch’s legs cut two strips of white cardstock 1/8-inch thick and draw red strips on them. Die cut shoes from the Witch and Cauldron die set in red glitter cardstock.

A Reminder- Teacup of Flowers

This thinking of you card was based off of Karen Burniston’s May 2025 Virtual class card #2 which uses her Coffee Cup Pop-Up as the base for the pop-up teacup with elements from her Tea and Coffee Pop-Up, Tea and Coffee Borders and Flowers and Bee die sets.

Watch the assembly video to see how I made this card.

Cardbase: The cardbase is a 5×12-inch piece of double-sided Maja Designs cardstock folded in half to form a 5×6-inch top-fold card. Inside two decorative panels were added near the fold. Four pieces of blue ribbon were attached to the outside panels using double-sided tape. The teacup on the back panel is from the Tea and Coffee Borders die set.

Teacup Pop-Up: Watch the assembly video for the Coffee Cup Pop-Up located at the bottom of the linked page. Then watch the video above to see how I modified the construction of the teacup using elements from the Tea and Coffee Pop-Up and Flowers and Bee die sets.

Sentiments: The card front sentiment was stamped in blue ink using a Scrapbook.com stamp. Inside are Karen Burniston die cuts of “Happy Spring” and a fancy label for a personal message. The tiny die-cut hearts throughout the card were made with a die from the Tea and Coffee Borders set that cuts three hearts at a time.

Envelope: The card fits into an A7 (5x 7-inches) size envelope with a die-cut teapot from the Tea and Coffee Borders glued to the back flap.
