Autumn Pop-Up Card with Animals

It’s time for the Karen Burniston Design Team November 2025 Challenge whose theme is FUN FACES. I made a slimline Thanksgiving card using two new stamp sets – Fall Phrases and Fun Faces 1.

Cardbase: I cut a 7 1/2×8 5/8-inch rectangle from white 65lb. cardstock. Then I scored and folded in half to create a 3 3/4×8 5/8-inch slimline cardbase.

Animals: Using the Woodland Animals and Winter Animals die sets make two bears, one raccoon, one fox and one squirrel. Use the Fun Faces 1 to stamp on the animals eyes, noses and mouths. Make four red apples from the Tiny Fruit set and add to all the animals except the squirrel. Make an acorn for the squirrel using the tiny acorn die in the Woodland Animals set.

Leaf and Acorn Border: Cut eight oak leaves from the Tree Pop-Up set and seven acorns using the tiny acorn die in the Woodland Animals set. (I cut a bunch of leaves from orange and brown cardstock and four more acorns knowing I would use the leftovers to decorate the inside of the card.) adhere to front border strip as shown in the photos and video.

Pumpkins: Cut three pumpkins from orange patterned paper. Dry emboss them using the pumpkin die from the Autumn Elements set in your die cutting machine’s embossing sandwich. Cut two of the pierced labels for the Little Labels Pop-Up side labels from green patterned paper. Layer together a pumpkin onto the green label and decorate with leftover leaves and acorns. Adhere the remaining pumpkin to the card back.

Label Pop-Up: Cut one of the large die in the Little Labels Pop-Up set from green cardstock. (Watch the assembly video located at the bottom of the linked page.) Assemble as show in the video above.

Sentiments: The inside stamped sentiments are from the Fall Phrases set. The die cut “Happy Thanksgiving” is cut from orange pattern paper using the Word Set 7 – Autumn set. From white cardstock, cut two medium sized labels from the Labels – Crosshatch, the center label and three banners from the Little Labels Pop-Up set to stamp. Adhere the largest two labels as places to write a personal message.

Envelope:  The card fits into a #10 business size envelope whose back flap was stamped in brown ink “Thankful Grateful Blessed” from the Fall Phrases stamp set.

Jolly Snowmen Birthday Postcard

This card was made for CRAFT ROULETTE #291 whose parameters included a postcard, Easter colors,  pack(s)/(ing) element, and shiny.

Cardbase: I used a 5×7-inch 220lb. cotton card panel to print the snowmen and sentiment onto the postcard front using a light blue ink.

Snowmen: Printed using the BetterPress system with the Spellbinders press plate Made with Snowflakes and colored glitter brush markers in pastel colors.

Sentiments: “Made with love & snowflakes” is in the Made with Snowflakes press plate set. The postmark was stamped in red ink using elements from two Purple Onion Designs red rubber stamp sets.

Envelope: The card fits into an A7 (5x 7-inch) size envelope.

2025 ATC Calendar – November

I started a new challenge for 2025 – the ATC calendar challenge. With a group of crafty friends, we are making a new image on a 4.25×5.5-inch calendar card for each month.

November’s card is made with Spellbinders Windy Fall Leaves Better Press plate and Better Press Ink – Bark, Clay, Saffron, Strawberry, Tawny Brown, Tuscan.

Cake Time Birthday Cards

Having just received the new Waffle Flower Cake Time Texture die and stencil set, I decide to make a batch of birthday cards.

I used purchased A2 (4.25×5.5-inch) plaid cardbases with white envelopes to start.

CARD

Front

  • Taking an 8.5×11-inch sheet of cream cardstock and cut into four 4.25×5.5-inch panels (I used 100 lb cardstock.)
  • Die-cut two of the panels in the center of panel with the texture die
Die-Cut Texture
  • Emboss the remaining panels using die-cutting machine’s embossing sandwich to emboss the die into the cardstock (I like the texture this gives to the panel, but it was harder to line-up the stencils.)
Embossed Texture
  • Using the five layered stencils, color the image with ink (I used a blue/orange/yellow color palette.)
  • Trim off the panel edges to the embossed die edge
  • Adhere to the center of card fronts (I used double-sided tape.)
  • Add black sentiment strips to front

Inside

  • Die-cut four mechanism arms using Karen Burniston’s Katherine Label Pop-Up L-shaped die from cream colored cardstock (I used 65 lb weight cardstock.)
  • Watch the assembly video located at the bottom of the linked page for the Katherine Label Pop-Up
  • Die-cut from white cardstock four of Karen Burniston’s Happy Birthday Shadows
  • Die-cut from blue cardstock four of Karen Burniston’s Happy Birthday
  • Glue the words to shadow
  • Stamp the verse from the Craft Roulette’s Funn Sentiments #01 inside the cardbase just below the center of the panel
  • Glue in the pop-up mechanism
  • Attach the “Happy Birthday” to the box pop-up making sure there are no catchpoints and that the sentiment stays inside the card when closed
  • Add glitter gloss to “Happy Birthday” and the word Glitter in the stamped verse

ENVELOPE

  • Stencil the envelope flap with the pennant using similar colors to the card
  • Stamp “HBD” over the stenciling using the Craft Roulette’s Funn Sentiments #01

Milk Shake Birthday Card

This card was made for CRAFT ROULETTE #288 whose parameters included a celebration card, on the ground colors, goes well together element, and block(s). Today’s card uses Spellbinders and Karen Burniston dies as well as stamps by Riley and Company. Glitter hearts are from Trinity Stamps.

Cardbase: I used a purchased plaid A2 (4.25×5.5-inch) card base and envelope.

Card Front: The new Spellbinders Fountain Wishes die set was used to make the milkshake and blue bird with a party hat. Many of the tiny pieces were cut from white cardstock and colored with markers. The bird and waffle fan were also inked with Distress Ink for shading. The chocolate sauce was covered in clear packing tape before die cutting.

Happy Birthday Pop-Up: All the dies used to make this pop-up mechanism and sentiment are by Karen Burniston – Happy Birthday and Shadow, Katherine Label Pop-Up.

Sentiments: The inside stamped sentiment is Funny Bones by Riley and Company. The front sentiment is a Spellbinders BetterPress plate Fountain Wishes Sentiments.

Envelope: Back flap is stamped with Funny Bones by Riley and Company and another bird from the Spellbinders Fountain Wishes die set.

Haunted Woods Pop-Up Halloween Card

It’s the Karen Burniston design team challenge for October 2025 using the theme of PEEK-A-BOO!” – What is hiding in your card? I chose to make a Halloween card with a haunted woods using the Arch Pop-Up, Tree Pop-Up, Halloween Elements, Slim Pattern Plate – Spiders and Ovals- Crosshatch die sets and the new Halloween Phrases stamp set.

Cardbase: Start with a white, purchased A2 (4.25×5.5-inch) cardbase. Covered the four panels with decorative papers.

Arch Pop-Up: Watch the assembly video (located at the bottom of the linked die set page) for the Arch Pop-Up. For details on how I decorated the arch with nine trees cut from the Tree Pop-Up die set, watch the video above. (Four of the trees are glued onto the arch side pop-ups and the remaining five are cut up for their branches which are glued onto the arch and the back pop-out strip. Orange leaves were cut also from the Tree Pop-Up set.)

Decorations: Three ghosts were cut from pearlescent vellum using the Halloween Elements dies. The dangling spider is made up of two spiders cut using the Slim Pattern Plate – Spiders. (You can use the spider from the Halloween Scene set as well.) Sandwich a piece of white thread between the two spider die cuts and tie onto back pop-out strip behind the arch.

Sentiments: Pearlescent vellum was using again to cut the “Boo!” (Halloween Elements) and the larger oval for a personal message (Ovals-Crosshatch). Graphic 45 Midnight Tales papers and ephemera are used for their sentiments on the card front and back. The “Happy Haunting” sentiment is from the newly released Halloween Phrases stamp set.

Envelope: The card fits into an A2 (4.25x 5.5-inches) size envelope with its back flap decorated with more of the Graphic 45 papers.

Autumn Leaves Accordion Card

This card was made for CRAFT ROULETTE #287 whose parameters included “saying hi”, crisp colors, sun/sunny(ies) element, and pennants. Today’s card uses Karen Burniston dies and her new Fall Phrases stamps.

Cardbase: (Watch the assembly video for this die set located at the bottom of the linked page.) Cut three of the Landscape Rectangle Accordion frames from brown cardstock. From one frame die cut two apertures in the pivot panel using the stitched rectangle die in the set. Decorate the panels first and then glue the frames together as shown in the assembly video.

Leaf Pennants: From the Tree Pop-Up die set cut two sets of oak leaves – once from yellow and one from brown. Daub the leaf edges with brown ink and then splatter with white paint and bronze ink to age them. Sandwich a piece 8-10-inches of black sewing thread between two leaves (of the same color) and glue in place. Repeat with remaining leaves. (Note: I lost one of my leave pairs, so I only added five dangling leaves to my card.) Using a thin sewing needle, piece a hole into the top of one of the window apertures panel and pull the thread through the hole, adjust length of leaf thread and tie off the thread. (Make sure to only wrap thread one the window frame below the hole as any thread above the hole will be seen and won’t be covered by the decorative frame.) Repeat with other leaves. Cut four picture frames from dark brown using the wood embossed picture frame die in the set. Glue picture frames over the openings to be centered on panel and cover the thread knots.

Gourds and Leaves: Cut two of each of the leaves and pumpkin dies in the Autumn Elements die set. Daub the edges with brown ink and then splatter with white and black paint to age them. (Note: I cut the yellow leaves from a scrap of paper I had inked with red to get that orange mottling effect.) Cut two tiny pumpkin gourds from orange or white with brown stem vines using the dies from the Haunted Tiny House Add-Ons set. Decorate the first and last panels on both sides using the leaves and pumpkins and gourds.

Sentiments: Using the new Karen Burniston Fall Phrases stamp set, stamp “Hello Gourd-geous!” “Warm Autumn Wishes” and “May your fall be crisp, cozy and colorful” onto white cardstock. Die cut using the last two phrases using the two smallest label dies in the Rectangles and Labels – Crosshatch set. Using a paper trimmer, cut the first phrase into a .8-inch wide stripe and cut a triangle from each end to make it into a fishtail banner. Using the Tropical Scene die set, cut the sun rays from orange and the circle from yellow and glue together to illustrate “Warm Autumn Wishes.”

Card Assembly: Line up the accordion frames in the order you desire after decorating the panels front and back. Train the folds on the frames and panels. Glue the large frames tabs first. Trim off the unused tab. Once the glue has set on the tabs, train the pivot panels movement. Decide which way the panels will move when open and closed. Glue the panels together having one connection behind the joining frames and the other connection going in front of the joining frames. Trim off unused panel tab.

Envelope: The card fits into a mini slimline envelope.

Pumpkin Spice Coffee

There’s a new mini release of five new stamp sets from Karen Burniston. For this card I’ve used the new Fall Phrases and Coffee Chat sentiment stamps along with previously released die sets – Fancy Label Accordion, Haunted Tiny House Add-Ons, Tea and Coffee Pop-Up and Fancy Solid Frame.

Cardbase: Cut three of the accordion frames from a plaid cardstock and followed the the assembly video for the Fancy Label Accordion die set. (Assembly video is at the bottom of the linked page for the die set.) Glue the frames together using the long tabs. Cut three sets of the Fancy Solid Frame and adhere to the back side of the accordion frames to hide the connecting tabs.

Card Front: Using the decorator dies in the Fancy Label Accordion set, cut a large plaid label and a smaller white label. Stamp on the white label “Let’s give ’em pumpkin to talk about” from the Fall Phrases stamp set. Glue the labels together and them on to the back of the lead pivot panel. From orange and green cardstock, cut and emboss the small pumpkin from the Haunted Tiny House Add-On die set. Glue to the label.

Coffee Mugs: Cut three of the mugs from white cardstock and two from the plaid cardstock using the Tea and Coffee Pop-Up die set. Stamp coffee sentiments onto the white mugs using the Coffee Chat stamp set. Adhere the mugs to the front and back of the pivot panels.
