2025 ATC Calendar – October

I started a new challenge for 2025 – the ATC calendar challenge. With a group of crafty friends, we are making a new image on a 4.25×5.5-inch calendar card for each month.

October’s card is made with Spellbinders Boo Crew by Simon Hurley dies and some light gray ink on the ghost.

Sleigh Bells Pop-Up Christmas Card

There’s a new mini release of five new stamp sets from Karen Burniston. For this card I’ve used the new Christmas Wishes sentiment stamps along with previously released die sets – Sleigh Pop-Up, Christmas Animals, Oval Frames Pop-Up, Gnome and Santa, Labels -Crosshatch, Squares- Crosshatch and Church & School Tiny House Add-Ons.

Cardbase: Start with an 11×4.25-inch rectangle of kraft colored cardstock. Score and fold at 5.5-inches to form an A2 (4.25×5.5-inch) side-fold card. Cover the four panels with decorative papers.

Card Back

Santa, Reindeer and Sleigh: Watch the assembly videos at the bottom of each of the dies’ linked pages. Santa was made using the Gnome and Santa die set and has the possibility to have his face stamped using the new Fun Faces stamp set. The reindeer were made using the Christmas Animals die set and made on the reverse side of normal die cut. (See the video above to learn how the harness was made.) Using just the sleigh die from the Sleigh Pop-Up, cut once in white and again in silver, Use the stencil die to emboss the sleigh body. Trim off the runner on the white embossed piece and ink with red. Place the red sleigh body slightly offset on top of the silver to give sleigh some dimension.

Pop-Up Platform: Use only the largest die in the Oval Frames Pop-Up set to cut from cream cardstock. train the folds as directed in the die’s assembly video (located at the bottom of the linked page.) Using a glitter paste, add a thin coat to the main platform and let dry before gluing the sleigh onto it. Follow the steps in the video above for the order to glue the various pieces into the card.

Card Front

Sentiments: All the sentiments were stamped in black ink using the Christmas Wishes stamps set. They were cut using the smallest plain die from the Labels -Crosshatch set. For the card front a square decorative paper background and two silver bells were made using the Squares – Crosshatch and Church and School Tiny House Add-Ons die sets.

Seafaring Tri-Fold Pop-Up Birthday Card

This card was made for CRAFT ROULETTE #286 whose parameters included a dude’s card, sunflower field colors, bird(s) element, and soot. Today’s card uses Spellbinders’ dies and embossing folder and Karen Burniston dies and stamps.

Cardbase: Cut from blue cardstock one 1.5×5.5-inch strip and one 3.5×5.5-inch rectangle. Score and fold .5-inch from the edge on both pieces to form 1.5×5-inch strip and 3.5 x5-inch rectangle. From an 8×6 sheet of heavy blue cardstock spritz with water and use the Spellbinder’s 3D Nautical Knots embossing folder to emboss the piece. Let piece dry flat. Trim down to two pieces that are 3.5×5-inches. (I made the mistake of cutting my cardstock to finished size I wanted before I embossed, forgetting that the embossing would consume some of my cardstock. So it is better to emboss a piece bigger than what you need and then trim down.)

Ships Wheel: Cut two ships wheels with stitching holes – one from black and one from brown cardstock using the Spellbinder’s stitching Ahoy, Matey! die set. Cut one ships wheel without the stitching holes from brown. Glue the two with holes together, keeping the glue from filling the holes. Stitch the pattern using two strands of brown embroidery floss. Glue the last brown wheel to cover over the back threads. Cut one “Ahoy” sign from silver using the die in the same stitching die set. Go over the letters with a thin-tipped black marker. Glue to bottom center of wheel. Using a pencil trace the openings of the wheel onto the blue strip as shown in the video above. Cut the openings out using a kraft knife. Glue wheel to blue strip.

Walrus and Seagull: Follow the directions on packaging of the Spellbinders Shipmates die set to assemble the pair. (I glued black eyes onto the walrus and used a pink marker to color the cheeks on both animals. Also did some shading on pipe with brown ink. ) Attach each creature as shown in the video above.

Card Assembly: Glue the strip with the ships wheel to the lower right side of one of the 3.5×5-inch rope embossed rectangles. Glue the 3.5×5-inch rectangle with the walrus glued to it on the left side of the rope embossed rectangle. Glue the remaining rope embossed rectangle to the back of the card to cover the card flap tabs.

Pop-Up Mechanism: Cut one of the L-shaped mechanisms from blue cardstock using the Karen Burniston Katherine Label Pop-Up die set. (Watch the assembly video at the bottom of the linked page for the die set.) Attach inside the card as shown in the video above.

Sentiments: Using the Karen Burniston “Happy Birthday” and its Shadow dies, cut the inside sentiment and glue together. Adhere the seagull to the top of the words. Glue entire piece onto the pop-up mechanism, checking that it is hidden inside the card and does not become a catchpoint for the mechanism. Stamp “Ahoy Matey!”to the card front using Karen Burniston’s Pirate Sentiments stamp set.

Envelope: Stamp in blue ink “Ahoy Matey!”to the back flap using Karen Burniston’s Pirate Sentiments stamp set.

Flower Rainbow Birthday Card

This card was made for a Scapp’n Savvy Card Challenge for KB Bundlers April 2025 using Karen Burniston’s Arch Pop-Up, Fun Flowers, Rectangles and Labels – Crosshatch, Happy Birthday Shadow, Happy Birthday and Flowers and Bee die sets. I also used Karen Burniston’s Rainbow Greetings clear stamp set.

Cardbase:  Cut a 10 x7-inch rectangle of olive green cardstock, score at 5-inches, fold in half and burnish with a bone folder. Cover inside with two 4.2×6.2-inch rectangles of patterned paper and the outside panels with two 4.5×6.5-inch rectangles of pink shimmer cardstock followed by the scalloped edged rectangles of patterned paper cut using the Rectangles and Labels – Crosshatch die set.

Arch Pop-Ups: Watch the assembly video for the Arch Pop-Up die located at the bottom of the linked page. Watch the video above for the modifications made to the arch for placing two arches in a 5×7-inch card. Decorate with Fun Flowers and Flowers and Bee die sets.

Sentiments: Using Happy Birthday Shadow and Happy Birthday dies, cut the shadow from white and the words from shimmer pink. Cut two of the crosshatch labels from white cardstock using the Rectangles and Labels – Crosshatch die set. Stamp one label with a sentiment from the Rainbow Greetings stamp set.

Envelope:  This card fits into an A7 (4.25×5.5-inch) envelope with strips of the decorative paper on the back flap.

A Halloween Pop-Up Fence Card

This Halloween card is based off a pop-up picket fence card that Karen Burniston made for her design team challenge for April 2025. (You can see her video here.)

Cardbase: Start with an 8.5 x 11-inch piece of patterned cardstock and fold in half to form a side-fold A9 (5.5×8.5-inch) card. Mark on the inside fold 4.75-inches up from the bottom edge.


Iron Fence: Cut two of the fence piece, using the Iron Fence Pop-Up die set, from heavy black cardstock. Watch the video below to see how to cut the two fence pieces into the gate, and the left and right fence pieces.


Pop-Up Mechanisms: Watch the assembly video above on how to cut-out, fold and attach the three mechanisms. Cut two of the Katherine Label Pop-Up L-shaped mechanism and one of the smallest angle pop-up from the Mini Pops Pop-Up die set.


Decorations: The Halloween Borders die set was use for all the outside decorative borders as well as the bats inside the card. The raven is from the Iron Fence Pop-Up die set. The hands are from the Halloween Elements die set.


Sentiments: “Boo!” on the card front is cut using the Halloween Elements die set while the “Happy Halloween” inside is from the Halloween Charms set.

Envelope: The card fits into a catalog (6×9-inch) size envelope stamped with sentiments from the Queen & Co. stamp set. The cobwebs are from the Tim Holtz stamp set and the dancing skeleton is from Riley & Company.

Tipsy Teacups Birthday Card

This card was made for CRAFT ROULETTE #284 whose parameters included a Funn fold card, birthday party colors, Maggie Smith element, and spiral (s) (ing). Today’s card uses The Greetery dies and stamps.

Cardbase:  I started with a 4.25×11-inch rectangle of 100lb white cardstock that was scored and folded at 5.5-inches and 9-inches to form an A2 (4.25×5.5-inch) easel card.

Tipsy Teacups:  Watch the video above to see how the cups were created with stencils using pink ink and a gold marker. The tipsy mechanism is a strip with tracks cut into it for penny slider mechanism. I used Pear Blossom Press’s new Snap N’ Slide penny slider plastic pieces which are like snaps that you can use a glue dot to adhere to the back of the teacups.

Sentiments:  “Sip, Sip HOORAY! It’s your birthday” and Hopping your day is steeped in happiness” are both in the Brew-Tea-Ful Day stamp set. They are stamped onto striped, textured, thin cardstock cut with the larges and smallest of the A2 Stitched Scallops die set.

Envelope:  The back flap is stamped with “Life is Brew-TEA-ful” in brown ink.

Getting Skinny

This card was made to celebrate Simon Says Stamp! Stamptember with Riley & Company’s The Dog Life stamp set and coordinating dies. It also uses pop-up dies by Karen Burniston.

Woven Basket: The base of this basket card that can fold flat, is Karen Burniston’s Woven Basket Box Card. The grass inside is also from the same set. For assemble see video above. A black alcohol marker was used on the coated gold cardstock to make the nail heads on the basket frame.

Sentiments: The main sentiment on the card was stamped in black ink and die cut using the coordinating dies in The Dog Life stamp set. It is on the round stem piece from the Bouquet Bits die set. The white fancy label on the basket back is for a personal message and is cut using the fancy label die in the Triple Platform Pop-Up set.

Tree: The tree was cut from some doubled-sided scrap patterned papers using the Tree Pop-Up die set.
