A Toast To You – A Birthday Card

This pun themed card is a pop-up card that has a piece of toast that moves up when the card is opened. It is a top-fold A2 (4.25×5.5-inch) cardbase That uses Karen Burniston’s Parcel Pop-Up mechanism to make the toast and lever move when you open it.

The frame around the inside sentiment is from Karen Burniston’s Frame Pull Pop-Up and the sentiment is from her Photo Memories stamp set. The HBD! stamped on the toast is by Craft Roulette.

The toaster and bread were of my own design. The black decorative design on the toaster comes from a previously released die set by Karen Burniston. The doily is from Paper Discovery.

The letters on the card front are by PoppyStamps.

A February Birthday Card

This card was made for Craft Roulette #255 whose parameters included an A2 card, Valentine colors, February element, and metallic/foil.

Cardbase: I used a purchased cardbase and envelope. The cardbase had a pink plaid exterior with was covered with decorative paper on the card back and a frame mat was cut from red using the Karen Burniston rectangle die so that some of the pink plaid would show.

Sentiments:  The “Sweet” sentiment on the card front is front a journaling card from the 12×12 Memory Place paper collection. Inside, a Craft Roulette sentiment stamp was used for “Happy Birthday.”

Envelope:  The card fits into an A2 (4.25x 5.5-inches) size envelope with decorative paper strips glued to the back flap.

On A Musical Note – Happy Birthday!

This card was made for a musical crafty friend who loves purple.

Cardbase:  I made this much the same way as I did with a previous gate fold aperture card (See Button Heart Gate Fold Aperture Birthday Card). Cut a 5.5×12-inch piece of purple cardstock. Score at 2-inches, 4-inches, 8-inches and 10-inches. Fold as shown in video. On the gate fold panels, place circle with treble clef die with center of the circle over the fold and die-cut. With die still taped to card, close flaps and tape die to other side lining up the die to complete the circle.

Musical Decorations: All the musical decorations are die cut from black using the dies from the Paper Discovery box 9 of Papercraft Society kits.

Sentiments:  “Happy Birthday” is a rubber stamp from Rubbernecker Stamps and was stamped onto the white rectangle before it was glued into the card, but after the black circle was glued in place. (See Button Heart Gate Fold Aperture Birthday Card video for how to line-up white rectangle for stamping).

Envelope:  The card fits into an A2 (4.25x 5.5-inches) size envelope that has the back stamped with musical staff and “A note to wish you well” all from Paper Discovery musical set.

Pop-Up Alice In Wonderland Birthday Card

This card was made for Craft Roulette #254 whose parameters included a book binding card, candy colors, rhymes with “ogg” element, and letters (ing).

Cardbase: Start with an 11×4.25-inch rectangle of white lightweight cardstock. Score and fold at 5-inches and at 5.5 -inches. Cover the four panels created by the folds with decorative papers from the Stamperia collection (inside panels) and solid red for outside panels. Glue the .5-inch strip together to form the book binding card. Cut a 1 to1.5-inch wide stripe of black cardstock and score at .5-inches down the strip. Cover the book binding strip of card front and wrap over to back of card.

Card Front Image: Stamp the Alice in Wonderland image from Creative Expressions on a piece of licorice red cardstock in black and glue to front of card, trimming off excess.

Pop-Up: Watch the assembly video at the bottom of the linked page for Karen Burniston’s Little Twist Panel Pop-Up. Cut pieces from Stamperia decorative paper.

Sentiments:  “Happy Birthday” is stamped in black using the Craft Roulette sentiment stamps. A small white, fancy label die-cut from the Karen Burniston’s Rectangles and Labels set for a space for a personal message.

Envelope:  The card fits into an A2 (4.25x 5.5-inches) size envelope. The Cheshire Cat was cut from some of the Stamperia decorative paper and glued to the envelope back flap.

Here For You – A Card of Comfort

This card was made using stamps, stencils and dies from the February 2025 Scrapbook and Cards With Love event. I made it before the event based off a design by DannaJoy.

Cardbase:  Cut a 4.25×11-inch rectangle from white cardstock. Fold to make a top-fold A2 (4.25×5.5-inch) card base. Cut a 4.25×5.5-inch rectangle of white cardstock and emboss it using the brick stencil.

(Use the embossing sandwich for a die as recommended for your die cutting machine.) Then glue the brick panel to the front of card.

Letters:  Cut four of the Letter A die from four different colors. Ink blend the edges and stamp on postage stamps and cancellation marks. Stamp on sentiments to three envelopes. Cut one of the string bow piece and place two envelopes behind it making string look like it is wrapped around the bundle. Arrange and then glue onto front of card. rub some water-based blue ink on a palette and wet with water. Pick up diluted ink on a small brush tip and splatter across card.

Sentiments:  Stamp on the inside “big hugs” in black and “made with love” on the card. “Smiles” with a heart is stamped in blue on the back envelope flap.

You Shine! – A Sweet Birthday Card

This card was made using stamps and dies from the February 2025 Scrapbook and Cards With Love event. I designed this card before the event as a birthday card for someone who loves lavender.

Cardbase:  I used a purchased A7 (5×7-inch) cardbase and envelope to create this layered floral card with positive vibes. The background of Lavender cardstock was cut with the scalloped edged rectangle from Karen Burniston’s Rectangles & Labels die set and covered with dots from a white gel pen.

Jar:  Stamping the jar on a lightweight white cardstock I drew green stems in the jar with an alcohol marker and then inked in the jar using the stencil as a mask with a light green-blue ink. Again using the jar stencil, I covered the jar with a light coating of a glitter paste and let dry. Die cut out the jar once it is thoroughly dried.

Flowers:  Stamp the floral bouquet onto lightweight white cardstock and color using the stencil set and sponge daubers to color with Distress Inks. Die cut out the bouquet.

Sentiments:  Die cut the “You Shine” from dark purple and its shadow from white. Glue together.  Stamp on the outside envelope flap “you have a way of making everything better just by being you” in black ink. Stamp the tiny trio of flowers in purple ink to match flowers on the card. Using the same purple ink to stamp “Happy Birthday” inside the card using the Craft Roulette sentiment stamp.

Envelope:  The card fits into an A7 (5x 7-inch) envelope.

Kindness Personified – A Thank You Card

This card was made using stamps and dies from the February 2025 Scrapbook and Cards With Love event. I designed this card before the event as a thank you card.

Cardbase:  Cut a 8.5×5.5-inch rectangle from white cardstock. fold to make a side-fold A2 (4.25×5.5-inch) card base. Cut a 4.25×5.5-inch rectangle of white cardstock and emboss it using the brick stencil.

(Use the embossing sandwich for a die as recommended for your die cutting machine.) Then glue the brick panel to the front of card.

Coffee Cup:  Stamping the coffee cup on a lightweight white cardstock in red ink. Stamp the dots on the lower half of the cup also in red. Using a blending brush and stencils, color in the handle and shade the top, sides and bottom of the cup leaving most of the center white. Die cut out the cup. Adhere to card front using thin foam squares (or one layer of foam tape.)

Flowers:  Stamp the floral bouquet onto lightweight white cardstock and color using the stencil set and sponge daubers to color with Distress Inks. Die cut out the bouquet. Adhere to card front using thick foam dots (or two layers of foam tape.) Add highlights to the bouquet with a glitter gloss pen.

Sentiments:  Die cut the “You are” from dark purple and its shadow from white. Glue together.  Stamp on the inside “kindness” in black and “made with love” on the card back in red.

Envelope:  The card fits into an A2 (4.24×5.5-inch) envelope with flowers stamped on the back flap.

Butterflies A Flutter Birthday Card

This birthday card was made for a crafty friend who likes nature and the Art Nouvo style.

Cardbase:  I cut from a 12×12 sheet of single-sided patterned cardstock, a 7 x10-inch piece so that the design would be my decorative card front. The rectangle was folded in half to form a top-fold A7 (5×7-inch) size card. The remaining patterned cardstock was cut into rectangles to cover the inside of the card.

Butterfly Pop-Up Collage:  Using the Karen Burniston Heart Collage Pop-Up die, cut of the mechanism from the scraps of the cardbase cardstock. (Follow the assembly video directions for installation of the mechanisms. Video is at the bottom of the linked die page.) Cut butterflies from scrapes of Graphic 45 decorative cardstock and glue onto mechanisms avoiding catch points as shown in the assembly video.

Sentiments:  Karen Burniston’s Happy Birthday die was cut in white and glued to the front of the card. The Funn sentiment from Craft Roulette was stamped in black ink onto a decorative scalloped label cut and embossed using an Emily Moore Designs die. Glitter gloss was used on all the sentiments for some sparkle.

Envelope:  The card fits into an A7 (5x 7-inches) size envelope.
