map fold nutcracker card

This card was made for CRAFT ROULETTE #295 whose parameters included a map fold, planter colors,  from the sky element, and three in a row. I used stamps and dies by Hero Arts and Karen Burniston to make this card.

Cardbase: Watch the video to see how the card base was made using digital paper by Carnation Crafts into a map fold card.

Nutcrackers were die cut using Hero Arts’ Fancy Dies Toys.

Sentiments were stamped on white cardstock using Hero Arts’ Stamp & Cut A Little Nuts set and cut out using Karen Burniston’s Greeting Labels die set. Three 1-inch circles were cut and marked with an “X” and a center circle to show where to stop when cutting the tabs. The tabs were folded to be inserted through a 3/4-inch hole in each of the card’s panels that will have sentiments. The oval sentiment labels are then glued onto the unfolded tabs and swiveled to make sure they are not glued to the card base.

Envelope: The card fits into an A2 (4.25x 5.5-inches) size envelope.

Lighted Christmas Wreath Card

This lighted wreath card will brighten someone’s day. It was made with dies and stamps from Karen Burniston’s Fall releases and include the Pine Cones, Greeting Labels and Dog and Cat Playful Add-Ons die sets along with Christmas Wishes stamp set.

Cardbase: Using a purchased A6 cardbase and envelope, adhere decorative paper to the card front. Save strips of decorative paper to decorate the card front and back.

Card Back

Lighted Wreath: Use a battery powered circle light to build the wreath onto. Cut 12-13 small pine branches from the Pine Cones die set from green cardstock. (I found that adding shims and using a metal die-cutting plate worked the best with my die-cutting machine to get crisp cuts.) Cut from light brown thin cardstock three of the small pine cone backs and three small pine cone fronts. Follow the video above for assembly suggestions and how to make a large red bow to cover the battery and push button using the Dog and Cat Playful Add-Ons set.

Sentiments: All the sentiments of “Merry Christmas” and “Wishing you twinkly lights and cozy nights” are part of the Christmas Wishes stamp set and cut out using the Greeting Labels set.

Envelope:  The card fits into an A6 (4.75x 6.5-inches) size envelope.

A Snowy Yeti Pop-Up Birthday Card

This card was made for CRAFT ROULETTE #294 whose parameters included an A2 card, holiday colors,  from the mountains element, and fancy paper. I used stamps and dies by Karen Burniston to make this card.

Cardbase: Watch the video to see how the card base was cut with a corner fold using the Rectangles – Crosshatch dies. The front and back panels were embossed using the embossing plates in my die-cutting machine and the Pattern Plate – Swirls die. Color swirls with a blue glitter brush marker.

Yeti Pop-Up: Cut from white the largest die in the Playful Pop-Up and the arms from the Monster Playful Add-Ons set. From blue cut the face plate square from the Playful Pop-Up and hands from the Monster Playful Add-Ons. Cut the mouth with lots of teeth in the from the Monster Playful Add-Ons once from black and once from red. Cut the v-shaped tongue piece from black and trim into two oval nostrils. Cut the two sets of oval eye pieces from black and white. Assemble pop-up as shown in the video above.

Sentiments: “RAWR!” is cut from blue and white cardstock. The inside sentiment “Hope your Birthday is Wild” is from the Monster Sayings stamp set and cut out using the Greeting Labels die set.

Envelope: The card fits into an A2 (4.25x 5.5-inches) size envelope.

Bee Pop-Up In A Flower Card

IT’S TIME for the Karen Burniston Products – KB Riley LLC November 2025 Release Blog Hop. (See GIVEAWAY details at the end of this post for blog hop list.) The Design Team have come together with Karen today for a fun blog hop to celebrate the release of 15 new dies and 5 new stamp sets. Sneak peeks of the new release started last week, and the dies are available to pre-order NOW!

Today’s card uses the new dies of Greeting Labels, Mini Ball Access Tabs, Surprise Ball Access Tabs and Animal Add-Ons 6 and a new stamp set – Bug Greetings. The card also uses previously released die sets of Mini Ball Pop-Up, Hexagons – Crosshatch and Ovals -Crosshatch.

Cardbase: Cut eight dotted lavender cardstock hexagons using the largest die in the Hexagons – Crosshatch. Using the next two plain edged hexagon dies in the set, cut a total of 12 of the medium hexagon from patterned paper and six of the smaller die also from patterned paper. Cut two sets of the Surprise Ball Access Tabs from the dotted lavender cardstock. Assemble card as show in video.

Bee Pop-Up: Cut two ball halves and 12 decorative pieces from yellow cardstock using the Mini Ball Pop-Up set. Also cut one set of Mini Ball Access Tabs from yellow cardstock. Assemble Mini Ball as shown in the video above using the access tabs. Create the bee using the Animal Add-Ons 6 set. Cut four sets of the antenna, one large circle and two small eye ovals from black cardstock. Cut two of the smaller circle from white cardstock and the mouth from pink. (I cut the mouth from white and colored with a pink marker.) Cut one set of wings and two wing vein overlays from clear vellum. Assemble as shown in video above. Cut one lavender oval for the base for the bee to set on using the medium die in the Ovals -Crosshatch set.

Sentiments: All the sentiments are stamped on white cardstock using the Bug Greetings stamp set and the Greeting Labels die set was used to cut the belly band label out. The large label on the back used the largest crosshatch die in the Hexagons – Crosshatch set.

Monster Pop-Up Card

It’s Sneak Peek Week for Karen Burniston’s November 2025 Release of new dies and stamps.

Today’s card uses the new dies of Playful Pop-Up, Monster Playful Add-Ons, Dog and Cat Playful Add-Ons, Greeting Labels and Rawr! As well as Ovals – Crosshatch and Rectangles and Labels – Crosshatch. The dies and stamps will be available for pre-order starting November 24, 2025.

Cardbase: I used a 12×12-inch sheet of yellow cardstock folded in half and used the largest plain rectangle die from the Rectangles and Labels – Crosshatch set placed with one corner over the fold to get a diagonal opening card base. Assemble card as show in video.

Monster Pop-Up: Using the Playful Pop-Up set, cut one of the largest die, the decorative notched square and the “Y” piece die from blue cardstock. From the Monster Playful Add-Ons die set, cut the large eye and tooth from white. Cut the arms from blue. Cut the eye center and mouth with tongue from black. Cut the horns from green and stencil on the stripes. Follow the video above and photos to assemble.

Monster Body: The body is an oval from the Ovals – Crosshatch die set. The leg is the “Y” piece die from the Playful Pop-Up set cut down. Eye highlights, finger nails and toe nails along with buttons were added with a white gel pen.

Bow: From the Dog and Cat Playful Add-Ons die set, cut from yellow cardstock – the largest eyeball, the largest cat ears and the paw arms. Trim off the paw end of the arms to make a fish tail ribbon ends and assemble as shown above.

Sentiments: Rawr! Is die cut into the green panel before being glued onto the yellow cardbase. The blue shadow was cut with the word die taped inside the shadow die and the tiny pieces from the centers of the R’s and A glued in place onto the yellow. Inside the sentiments were stamped using the Monster Sayings set and cut out using the Greeting Labels die set. A white label cut from the same labels set is for a personal message. The card back has an eyeball and “I only have eye for you.”

Envelope: The card fits into an A6 (6 1/2×4 3/4-inches) size envelope.

A Snowy Pines Card

It’s Sneak Peek Week for Karen Burniston’s November 2025 Release of new dies and stamps.

Today’s card uses a new die and a new stamp set – Pine Cone and Quiet Forest. It also uses the previously release dies of Pattern Plate – Swirls and Snow Charms. The new dies and stamps will be available for pre-order starting November 24, 2025.

Cardbase: I cut an 8.5×11 sheet of white 65lb. cardstock in half to create two 5.5×8.5-inch rectangles that I fold in half to make side-fold A2 cardbases. Cut one cardbase into two 4.25×5.5 panels.

Swirls Background: Tape a white 4.25×5.5 panel of cardstock to the Pattern Plate – Swirls die and using the embossing sandwich for your die cutting machine, and emboss the pattern into the cardstock. Color the swirls with a glitter marker of icy blue. Trim panel down to 4×5.25-inches. Glue panel to card front.

Pine Cones: Watch the video above to see how I made the pine cones using Karen Burniston’s Pine Cone dies.

Skates and Snowflakes: The skates and snowflakes were cut out using the Snow Charms die set. The three skate dies were cut from white cardstock and colored with markers before gluing together. The snowflakes were cut from white gold shimmer cardstock.

Sentiments: All the sentiments come from the Quiet Forest stamp set and are cut out with the Greeting Labels die set.

Envelope: The card fits in an A2 (4.25×5.5-inch) size envelope with a snowflake glued to the back flap.

The Cat’s Meow Pop-Up Card

It’s Sneak Peek Week for Karen Burniston’s November 2025 release of new dies and stamps.

Today’s card uses the new dies of Playful Pop-Up, Dog and Cat Playful Add-Ons, Greeting Labels and Meow! As well as Rectangles – Crosshatch and Sending Love. The dies and stamps will be available for pre-order starting November 24, 2025.

Cardbase: I used a 12×12-inch sheet of dark pink cardstock folded in half and used the scalloped rectangle die from the Rectangles – Crosshatch set placed with one corner over the fold to get a diagonal opening card base. Cut two full scalloped rectangles from light pink cardstock and four smaller rectangles from flower patterned paper. Glue flower panels to the inside of the dark pink cardbase trimming of diagonal corners. Glue remaining two panels to light pink pieces. Assemble card as show in video.

Cat Pop-Up: Using the Playful Pop-Up set, cut one of the largest die and the “Y” piece die from white cardstock. From gray cardstock, cut the decorative notched square die in the Playful Pop-Up set, and from the Dog and Cat Playful Add-Ons, the paws, and large cat ears . From pink cardstock, cut two of the paw backing die, the small cat ears and tongue. From black, cut one nose-mouth piece and one set of small eyeballs. From white, cut one set of large eyeballs and whiskers. Follow the video above and photos to assemble.

Sentiments: The die-cut sentiments of Sending Love and the tiny hearts are from the die set of the same name. MEOW! is cut from light pink cardstock using the die of the same name. The shadows behind “Love” and MEOW! are cut from pink vellum. Pink sparkle heart embellishments finish the card front. “Big Hugs” is from the Cat Sayings stamp set. The labels are cut using dies from the Greeting Labels. The paw on the card back comes from MEOW!

Envelope: The card fits into an A6 (6 1/2×4 3/4-inches) size envelope.

Ladybug Slimline Interactive Card

It’s Sneak Peek Week for Karen Burniston’s November 2025 Release of new dies and stamps.

Today’s card uses the new dies of Playful Pop-Up, Greeting Labels, and Bug Borders as well as previously released Long Rectangles – Crosshatch. The sentiments are from the new stamp set – Bug Greetings. The dies and stamps will be available for pre-order starting November 24, 2025.

Cardbase: Cut from black cardstock a 7.5 x8.5-inch rectangle. Score and fold at 3.75-inches to form a 3.75×8.5-inch slimline cardbase. Using the largest of the Long Rectangles – Crosshatch dies, cut four from patterned paper. Adhere the rectangles to all four panels of the card.

Playful Mechanisms: Using the Playful Pop-Up set, cut three of the largest die and three of the “K” piece die from a green cardstock. Cut the decorative notched square die from patterned paper. Follow the video above to assemble.

Ladybugs:  There are two sizes of ladybugs used on this card. The larger ones come from the Playful Pop-Up set and include dies to make them with legs, without legs and flying. The smaller ladybugs come from the Bug Borders set. (I cut two strips of the border ladybugs, five of the bugs with legs and five of the bugs without legs. I made one of the without legs bodies into a flying ladybug.) Watch the video above for assembly instructions.

Sentiments: The card sentiments are all stamped in blank ink using the Bug Greetings stamp set and cut out using the Greeting Labels die set. Watch the video above for details on attaching the sentiments to the cards.

Envelope: The card fits into a #10 business size envelope.

It’s Sneak Peek Week for Karen Burniston’s November 2025 Release of new dies and stamps.

Today’s cards use the new dies of Playful Pop-Up, Dog and Cat Playful Add-Ons, Greeting Labels, Dog Borders and Woof! as well as Go Wild!, Rectangles – Crosshatch and Waterfall Card. A new stamp set, Dog Sayings, was also used. The dies and stamps will be available for pre-order starting November 24, 2025.

(NOTE: Below are the specifics for the A2 right pull teal colored card.)

Cardbase: I used a purchased kraft side-fold A2 cardbase. Using the largest of the Rectangles – Crosshatch dies, cut two from patterned paper. Adhere the rectangles to the front of the card and to the inside right panel. (Cut a piece of pattern paper 4.5×5.75-inches and save to cover the back panel once the staples have been added to the card assembly.)

Dog Pop-Up: Using the Playful Pop-Up set, cut one of the largest die and the “Y” piece die from a dark brown cardstock. Cut the decorative notched square die from light brown cardstock. Follow the video above to assemble but do so in reverse for a right pull strip. Cut one rectangle .75×1-inch from the patterned paper. Cut one piece of clear thick plastic packaging .75×2.5-inches and another strip of lighter weight acetate .5×3-inches. Cut a cover strip also .5×3-inches from the same pattern paper as the inside panel. (The .5×3-inch pieces are the guide strip.) Once the guide strip over the pull piece has been installed and stapled in place, glue the 4.5×5.75-inch piece of pattern paper over the card back to hid the staples.

From the Dog and Cat Playful Add-Ons die set, cut from a light brown cardstock the paw arms and the dog ears. From dark brown cardstock, cut two of the paw backing die. From black, cut one nose-mouth piece and one set of the small eyeballs. From white, cut one set of large eyeballs. From pink cut one tongue. Watch the video above for how to assemble.

Bow: From the Dog and Cat Playful Add-Ons die set, cut from red cardstock – the largest eyeball, the largest cat ears and the paw arms. Trim off the paw end of the arms to make a fish tail ribbon ends and assemble as shown above.

Card Front
Card Back

Sentiments: The card sentiments “Go Wild!“ and “Woof!” are die cut. “Woof! Is used twice inside the card and once on the card back. Inside there is a stamped sentiment of “Your dog thinks you’re cool (and I do too!)” was stamped in black and cut out using the largest oval from the Greeting Labels die set.

Envelope: The card fits into an A2 (4.25x 5.5-inches) size envelope.
