Stenciled Cake Pop-Up Birthday Card

Here are two birthday cards I made using a stamp and coordinating die and stencils set from This Calls For Confetti and Karen Burniston’s Katherine Label Pop-Up and Happy Birthday word die sets.

Watch the process video to see how I made this card.

I made two versions of the card – one using patterned paper as a background and the other with a stenciled card front.  Both started with a purchased A6 (4.5×6.25-inch) cardbase with matching envelope. Both have the pop-up sentiment inside with the words, shadow and mechanism being cut from an additional cardbase and colored with the same Distress Ink colors used to stencil the cake.

Envelope: Β The card fits into an A6 (4.5x 6.25-inches) size envelope stamped with a sentiment from Craft Roulette.

A Reminder- Teacup of Flowers

This thinking of you card was based off of Karen Burniston’s May 2025 Virtual class card #2 which uses her Coffee Cup Pop-Up as the base for the pop-up teacup with elements from her Tea and Coffee Pop-Up, Tea and Coffee Borders and Flowers and Bee die sets.

Watch the assembly video to see how I made this card.

Cardbase: The cardbase is a 5×12-inch piece of double-sided Maja Designs cardstock folded in half to form a 5×6-inch top-fold card. Inside two decorative panels were added near the fold. Four pieces of blue ribbon were attached to the outside panels using double-sided tape. The teacup on the back panel is from the Tea and Coffee Borders die set.

Teacup Pop-Up: Watch the assembly video for the Coffee Cup Pop-Up located at the bottom of the linked page. Then watch the video above to see how I modified the construction of the teacup using elements from the Tea and Coffee Pop-Up and Flowers and Bee die sets.

Sentiments: The card front sentiment was stamped in blue ink using a Scrapbook.com stamp. Inside are Karen Burniston die cuts of β€œHappy Spring” and a fancy label for a personal message. The tiny die-cut hearts throughout the card were made with a die from the Tea and Coffee Borders set that cuts three hearts at a time.

Envelope: The card fits into an A7 (5x 7-inches) size envelope with a die-cut teapot from the Tea and Coffee Borders glued to the back flap.

Four Pop-Up Birthday Cards

Here is a quick way to get four pop-up birthday cards using just three sheets of double-sided patterned cardstock.

Watch the process video to see how I made this card.

Cardbase: Start with a 8.5×5.5-inch piece of double-sided patterned cardstock and fold in half to form a side-fold A2 (4.25×5.5-inch) card.

Flip Frame Pop-Up: Watch the assembly video for the Flip Frame Pop-Up located at the bottom of the linked page. Cut out one of the mechanism from cardstock matching the inside of each cardbase. Use the journaling or tags in the paper collection for the piece that flips up on the mechanism. Decorate with cutout pieces and scraps from the paper collection.

Sentiments: All the sentiments were stamped in black ink using Karen Burniston’s Birthday Belated and Photo Memories stamp sets. The stitched white rectangles are cut from white cardstock using a die from the Flip Frame Pop-Up die set.

Envelope: The cards fit into A2 (4.25x 5.5-inches) size envelopes.

Pop-Out Birthday Tag Card

This card was made for Craft Roulette #265 whose parameters included gift card, train colors, science element, and add a flower. I used a Craft Roulette stamp set and three Karen Burniston dies die sets.

Watch the process video to see how I made this card.

Cardbase: Β Using Karen Burniston’s Tag Book Pop-Up die set, I cut two of the large tag frames from oxidized blue mirror cardstock and two more from oxidized copper-colored mirror cardstock. The rectangular hinge die I cut once from white cardstock.

Pop-Up Panels: I glued my thin decorated paper to a piece of thin white cardstock and let dry before cutting out the Flower Pivot Panels piece. (Follow the assembly instructions in her video on the die set’s linked page.) The six small flowers are cut from solid colored cardstock scraps using the dies from the same die set as the panels.

Sentiments: Β  The framed β€œHappy Birthday” on the tag front is from the Happy Birthday Lorna Add-Ons die set. The stamped “itty bitty gift” on the back tag pocket is in brown ink using the Craft Roulette Funn Sentiments #01 stamp set.

Envelope: Β The card fits into a purchased A6 (4.5x 6-inches) size envelope or larger.

Celebrate with Flowers!

This card was made for a Scapp’n Savvy Card Challenge for KB Bundlers April 2025 using Karen Burniston’s Purse Pop-Up, Flip Frame Pop-Up, Flutter Charms and Celebrate die sets. I also used Karen Burniston’s Photo Memories clear stamp set.

Watch the video for instructions on the construction of the card.

Read more below on specifics of this card.

Cardbase:Β  Cut a 10 x7-inch rectangle of green cardstock, score at 5-inches, fold in half and burnish with a bone folder. Cover inside with two 4.5×6.5-inch rectangles of patterned paper. Save scraps of pattern paper to decorate card front. Die cut large frame from Flip Frame Pop-Up die set from red dotted paper. Cut bee and small flower pieces from Flutter Charms die set and assemble as shown in process video above.

Flower Planter Pop-Up: Β Watch the assembly video for the Purse Pop-Up located at the bottom of the linked page. Cut one large, stitched rectangle from the Flip Frame Pop-Up die set from a journal card. Follow directions in the process video above for how to die cut tabs into red rectangle. Die cut one purse base from striped paper and follow directions in process video above. Using the flower and stem dies in the Flip Frame set, die-cut flowers from patterned paper and stems from green cardstock. (Save patterned paper with flowers cut out for card back.)

Sentiments: Β Die cut the β€œCelebrate” once from, orange, red and black. (I use a shiny black piece of junk mail.) From the KB April Zoom class kit use the pre-printed β€œHappy Birthday” sentiment rectangle label. (Alternative is to stamp the sentiment using Karen Burniston’s Bouquet Sayings clear stamp set on to white cardstock.) Die cut sentiment label with smallest rectangle die from Flip Frame Pop-Up die set. Cut the smallest stitched rectangle from the same set, in pale blue. Glue sentiment label onto blue rectangle.

Envelope: Β This card fits into an A7 (4.25×5.5-inch) envelope with β€œCelebrate your big awesome day” stamped in red on the back flap. Stamps is from Karen Burniston’s Photo Memories.

It’s A Mystery – A Birthday Card for an Avid Mystery Reader

This is a card for the Relatively Thoughtful March 2025 Challenge using the two page free digital download from the Independent Women “AUTHORS” paper set.

Cardbase: Start with a purchased side-fold A7 (7×5-inch) card. Cover the front with two strips of the narrow decorative papers and one 3.5×7-inches of the wallpaper print. Use scrapes to created the tab strips at right top and bottom. (I printed one set out and realized my yellow ink cartridge was empty, so the card back uses that paper. The front of card uses the set printed with all the full color cartridges.)

Oval Opening: I centered my 3.125-inch oval die over the cut out rectangle of Agatha Christie positioned them where I wanted them to go on the card front and carefully taped the die down while removing the picture. With the card open, I cut the oval through just the card front.  Glue the picture to the inside of the card centering it through the oval window.

Decorations: Add floral images fussy cut from the digital papers. Cut out three tags for the back of the card. Use a fine black pen to draw strings on the tags.

Sentiments: Here are the sentiments I used for the card. Free download.

Envelope:  The card fits into an A7 (7×5-inch) size envelope with a fussy cut tag from the papers glued to the back flap.
