This card was made for Craft Roulette #230 whose parameters included shaped card, peacock colors, tall element and XOXO.

Cardbase: I made a side-fold A2 cardbase by folding a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2-inch rectangle in half and stenciled the front on a separate panel. The tiny gold gems where glued on as the last decoration.
Sentiments: The banner sentiments were made using the Spellbinders BetterPress letterpress system and Cheers to You press plates and dies. The inside of the card is blank for a personal message.
Envelope: Envelope flap was stenciled with the same stencil and inks.
Here are two more cards I made at the same time using the same inks and stencil sets, but different BetterPress press plate – Mistletoe Greetings. (“Merry everything” sentiment inside is from Scrapbook and Cards Today’s Jolly Holiday workshop kit.)

Cardbase: Cut an 11 x 5 1/2-inch rectangle and score and fold at 4 1/4-inches and at 8 1/2-inches. Cover with decorative papers cut at 4 x 5 1/4-inches (cut four of these) and then cut two of 2 1/4 x5 1/4-inches.
Envelope: The sentiment stamped on the back is by Technique Tuesday.

This past few weeks I’ve been playing with some of Karen Burniston’s accordion dies released under the Elizabeth Craft Designs (ECD) and combining them with her more recent dies branded under the KB Riley LLC label.
This July 4th accordion decoration features the Accordion Star and Star Fancy Frame Edges from ECD and the Fancy Label Accordion and Fancy Solid Frame sets which are currently available on Karen Burniston’s website. The patriotic stamped images and stamped border paper are from Honey Bee Stamps.
This card was made for Craft Roulette #222 whose parameters included Dutch door, gnome colors, movie element and building blocks.

Cardbase: Starting with an 8 1/2-inch square that is scored at 3 1/2, 7, and 7 1/2-inches. Thin magnets are added to the flap and back of front panel before being covered with decorative paper.
Sentiments: The front “You are the STAR of your Life Story” was computer generated while the “Happy Birthday” inside used two Karen Burniston dies – Happy Birthday and Happy Birthday Shadow.
Card Front: Drive-in movie die cuts and stamps are by My Favorite Things. the 3D embossing folder is by Spellbinders.

Cardbase: Use the Fancy Label Accordion die set for this step. Using a die cut frame with the inside pivot panel cut-out, trace the inside the frame onto the outside of the card base where you want the accordion frame to be. Cut out the opening and trace the opening onto the inside panel and cut that opening out too. Cover the inside of your cardbase with decorative papers. Cut out the openings out of the decorative papers. Cut the opening wider that the pencil marks as the decorative frames will cover it. Cover outside with decorative papers and cut the opening from the decorative papers.
Accordion Frame: Die-cut two whole Fancy Label Accordion frames from a decorative print cardstock. Cut two more whole frames from decorative paper but cut out the pivot panels in them. (Save cut -out pivot panels for other projects.)
Tree-Add-On Panel: Watch the assembly video for the Hearts Add-Ons to see how to cut the pivot panels and how to adhere the tree panel to them. (I used the half pivot panels to decorate the back side of the pivot panels that stayed.)
To finish the inside tree panels, I cut using a label die taped inside the pivot panel die to get a frame cut from gold matte cardstock. I cut two of these frames and glued the to the outside edges of the tree panel.
I decorated the tree shaped pop-out spaces with tiny handmade flower bouquets popped -up on foam squares.
Sentiments: I die cut the sentiments from black cardstock using the Celebrate and Happy Birthday Lorna Add-Ons. Cut a small white label using the small, dotted label die in Fancy Label Accordion die set for a personal message space. (I use double-side tape on the back of the label but wait to attach it after I have written my message.)
It’s time for the July 2024 Karen Burniston Design Team Challenge with the theme of SET SAIL.
“Let’s Be Pirates” is the theme of this card made withKaren Burniston’s June 2024 release ofnew dies andclear stamps. For this card (which could be used for birthdays, Father’s Day, and just for fun), I used several of the new sets including: Pirate Borders, Pirate Ship Add-Ons and Boat Pop-Up die sets and Pirate Sentiments clear stamp set.
Cardbase: Cut a piece of kraft card stock 7-inches x 12-inches. Score and fold at 3 1/2-inches and 8 1/2-inches to form a gate fold cardbase with overlapping flaps. Stamp map onto cardbase. Use map’s stencils to ink in map. Stamp sentiments using the new Pirate Sentiments stamp set. Tear off and distress the card edges. Crumple up the cardbase flatten and crumple again. Spritz the cardbase with water. Lightly spray brown inks and splatter watercolor paint onto cardbase. Spritz again to allow inks to soak into the cardstock. Crumble cardbase while still damp. Dry flat over paper towel. (You may want to practice all the distressing with ink and water on scrap kraft cardstock before distressing your cardbase. I sprayed water to the back of the map as it was colored with Distress Inks which would run.)
Pirate Characters: Watch the video above to see how the pirate characters were made. The pirate captain’s hat was switched out with one from the new Pirate Borders. The treasure chest and captain hat borders are also from the Pirate Bordersset.
Train the folds on the ship’s body piece cut from the Boat Pop-Up die set in black. Glue the small side tab while the piece is folded flat. All of the following pieces are cut using the Pirate Ship Add-Ons set. Cut the boomerang shaped bow piece from black. Glue to the narrow-tabbed front of the ship while folded flat. Cut the back railing from black and glue to inside of ship back while folded flat. Cut 10 of the small circles in black and 10 of the larger circles in pale yellow. Glue small circles on top of large circles and attach them to ship body as show in photos.
Cut two sets of wave pieces. Ink blue. Glue to the sides of ship body, but not to the front or back flat panels. (The waves stick out in front to a point while the back jut out two wave points.) The tiny edge of the wave pieces match-up at the center side folds.
Cut the deck and seat pieces from the Boat Pop-Up die set in brown. Train folds. Trim off the front edge of the seat piece. (See red circle in photo.)
Cut two of the u-brace pieces from the Boat Pop-Up die set in black. Train folds and fold edges of tabs to fit through slots in the deck piece as shown in photos.
Cut two sets of masts from the Pirate Ship Add-Ons set in a thick back cardstock. Glue the mast pieces together matching up the different sizes to form two smaller masts and one taller mast. Slide the tallest mast through the center slot of the deck down between the two u-braces. (See red circled photo.) Glue to one of the u-brace sides. Add the second mast through one of the end slots and check alignment of the two masts in the folded position. Glue to u-brace. Repeat with third mast.
Test placement of seat (referred to as deck in photos) between center mast and back mast. Glue the deck front tab between the center tab and the mast. Glue back deck tab to back mast tab.
Cut three sets of the two sail dies from the Pirate Ship Add-Ons set in black. Cut three of the smaller sails from white and one of the large sail from white. Attach one of the small white sails to cover one small black sail. Do the same with the large white and black sails. Center the remaining two small white sails to the remaining two large black sails. (I used white label paper that had adhesive on the back.) Cut the sail decorations also from white and use the stencil feature of the skull die. Color the sword handles red. Attach decorations to smaller sails. Cut two of the crow’s nest basket from brown. Ink them brown. Cut the two flags from yellow. Starting with the tallest center mast, glue the flag at the top of the mast, the mast between the two pieces of flag then attach the basket in the same manner. Next attach the all-white small sail followed by the all-white large sail. For the smaller masts glue a decorated sail at the top and then a large sail.
Fold the deck up and add glue just to the front u-brace bottom. Slide folded deck into flatten ship body matching the front body narrow tab with u-brace. Repeat with back u-brace and body tab.
Test opening ship. You may have to help train it opening all the way. Flatten to glue into the cardbase. Add glue to one of the ship body tabs and attach with end of tab being in the cardbase fold. Add glue to other ship body tab and fold cardbase flap over to attach. Wait until glue has dried to open.
Sentiments: Stamp all sentiments before distressing the cardbase using Pirate Sentiments stamp set. On the front flaps are “It’s A Great Day to be a Pirate!” and “You arrr an absolute treasure.” Inside is “Let’s Be Pirates” and “Yo Ho Ho!” There is space inside for either a personal message or a die-cut sentiment such as Happy Birthday or Happy Father’s Day.
Envelope: This card will fit into an A7 (5 x 7-inch) envelope. (I choose to hand deliver the card because of the wax seal on the back of it.)

Cardbase: I started with a purchased 5×7-inch kraft cardstock cardbase and covered all sides with leopard spots paper. The inside was covered with two 5×7 pieces. (I covered my inside after I had die-cut the stage and had to fold the stage flat, cut on the die-cut lines and then retrain the folds. This gives you a solid coverage of the stage, hiding the center cut.) I cut the stage pop-ups, before I covered the outside with one 7×10-inch piece so I could hide the stage pop-out.
Pop-up Stage: (Watch the assembly video at the bottom of the linked page for Explosion Pop-Up before starting.) Because the stage in the Explosion Pop-Up set cuts into the card, I had to mark the card center and then die-cut the two parts of the stage on either side of the mark.
Explosion Side Panels: (Watch the assembly video at the bottom of the linked page for Explosion Pop-Up before starting.) Use paper rather than cardstock for the best results. As many times as I have made these panels, I always have to refer to the packaging or the assembly video to fold them correctly. Glue into the card before attaching the keyboard.
Piano Keys Pop-Up: This is a glue-in pop-up with good written directions on the packaging. You glue the black keys to the fold side without a tab with the bottom bar edge of the black keys piece lining-up to the bottom edge of the white keys. I added a second set of keys but had to trim off two white keys and one black key to fit into the Explosion card. (See photo above.) If you connect the two sets of keys inside with leftover strips from cutting the black keys, it will be easier to glue into the card. Attach the keys to stage pop-up and then glue the tab to the cardbase.
Characters: Assemble the guitar charm from the Music Charms set twice. (I cut the base from a woodgrain cardstock and the neck piece from white cardstock that was then inked with brown and stenciled with a black marker using the die stencil feature. The knobs were colored black, and the strings are cut from clear vellum and ends colored with a black marker.) Attach wiggly eyes, legs and arms. (One guitar I used legs made from the L and F of the Mini Alphabet, and the other I used the cowboy boots from the Tiny Accessories 3 set.) Glue to a mini wobbler spring before attaching to card.
The trumpet and heart are also made with the MiniAlphabet limbs of F, I and L and wiggly eyes. The heart has a hand-drawn mouth, and the microphone is the “i” from the Go Wild! sentiment set. The heart and trumpet are glued to the pop-up cubes atop the stage. The heart was cut from the Candy Hearts Box set.
There is a tiny white paw print on the back of the card that was cut from white cardstock and the paw pads colored with a black marker. This die comes from the Doghouse Tiny House Add-Ons set.
Sentiments: “Wild Thing!” is cut from two separate die sets – Go Wild! and the larger Alphabet set. Both words were cut from black and a pale-yellow cardstock with the layers staggered to create a sense of a shadow and to make them stand out on the dark background. They are glued on a heart cut from the Hearts – Crosshatch set.
My trick for lining up the individual letters is to line them up on my grid mat and place low tack tape over them and then glue them in place while still on the tape. Attach to card and then once dry, peel off the tape.
The inside sentiments included a circle cut from the Circles – Crosshatch set that was stamped with a clear ink and then heat embossed with white detail embossing powder. The stamp is from the Music Sentiments clear stamp set. The die-cut “Happy Birthday” is cut from the Happy Birthday Lorna Add-Onsset with the shadow piece trimmed from its frame.
Envelope: The back flap of the kraft A7 envelope has spotted leopard paper glued to it.

Cardbase: I used double-sided patterned paper and cut a 4 x 12-inch rectangle and folded it in half.
Trees Pop-Up: From coordinating patterned paper, I cut the Tree Add-Onsmain die and scored it at 6-inches from either end. The tabs created by this scoring are what will be glued onto the card. To attach the pop-up, train all the folds and flatten them out. Place the center fold of pop-up over center fold of card. Fold back tabs and glue in place. Decorate pop-up using dies in the set. A white fence was added to the center of the pop-out using a die in the Farm Edges set.
Sentiments: The “Happy Birthday” on the card front is from the new Happy Birthday Lorna Add-Ons die set. Inside is a stamped and heat embossed sentiment “It’s your birthday. Hope it is wonderful” made up of four different stamps in the Birthday/Belated clear stamp set. The middle size crosshatch die in the Labels – Crosshatch set was used to created the inside sentiment and personal message labels.
Envelope: This card fits into an A6 envelope which was decorated with a border strip from the patterned paper collection.
