Hot Dog Themed Birthday Card

This card was made for Craft Roulette #309 whose parameters were: a mini slimline card, jolly colors, in the kitchen element and mask(s)/(ing). I created this 3.5×6-inch hot dog themed birthday card by hand-drawing and cutting the entire card.

Watch the process video to see how I made this card.

Cardbase: I started with a 7×6-inch rectangle of cream cardstock and scored and folded it into a 3.5×6-inch bottom fold card. After sketching out the hot dog in a bun, I cut out the sketch and traced the image on to the card with the fold at the bottom. Next, I trimmed out the image through both layers of cardstock. Then cut out the front bun from the sketch and traced it fold side down on just the front layer of the card, trimmed it out to make a fold down flap.Shade bun inside and out with a brown ink.

Sketched Pattern Pieces

Decorations: The hot dog was cut from red cardstock and shaded with a red/brown ink. A zig-zag of yellow cardstock was sketched and then cut from cardstock. Using scraps of a dotted green patterned paper, I cut tiny squares of various sizes for the pickle relish spread inside the bun.

Sentiment: I hand wrote the sentiment of “Frankly Speaking, You’re the Best! Happy Birthday.”

Envelope: The card fits into a 3.625×6.5-inch envelope.
