The Greetery Rosmal Two-Fold Card

This card was made for Craft Roulette #341 whose parameters were include a two-fold card project, planets colors, beautiful for element and wonky for random. I used The Greetery’s Capsule collection of dies and embossing folders to make this A7 (5×7-inch) card.

Cardbase: Cut an 8.5×11-inch sheet of white cardstock in half. Emboss one piece with The Greetery’s Capsule Basics 3D embossing folder. Trim to 5×7-inches. Using the largest scalloped edged die in the Capsule Basics die set with the Capsule Fixed Borders Large die inside it, cut out a scalloped border, a frame and a center oval from the other half of the white cardstock. Cut two pieces of acetate – one 1×4-inches and one 2×3-inches. Follow the assembly steps shown in the video above.

Rosmal: (Rosmal is a traditional Scandinavian decorative folk art painting.) Using the Rosmal Reflections 3D embossing folder, emboss the white oval frame. From brown cardstock, cut a frame and center oval using the Capsule Fixed Borders Large die. Emboss the brown pieces with the Rosmal Reflections 3D embossing folder. Paint the center piece with shimmer watercolors. Assemble as shown in the video above.

Sentiments: “Joy” was handwritten on the embossed banner on the oval center piece with an ultra fine-tip permanent marker. The inside sentiment and envelope flap sentiments come from PoppyStamps Peaceful Christmas Greetings stamp set.

Envelope: The card fits into an A7 (5x 7-inches) size envelope with its back flap stamped in black ink with “Sending Warm Winter Wishes” from PoppyStamps Peaceful Christmas Greetings stamp set.

Flowered Quilt Square Birthday Card

I’m here today with a 4.25×6-inch quilt square birthday card using Relatively Thoughtful digital papers – A collection called Walter Crane In The Garden.

I printed three pages of 8.5×11-inch prints from the Walter Crane In The Garden collection (pages 3,7,18.) Next, I die cut one quilt square from each of the papers. I used the outline of the quilt square from one of the die-cuts to act as a template of where to place the various pieces, taping it down to the card front. Glued the pieces in and then removed the template. The top swag of daisies and the center daffodil were cut from other pages of elements in the collection.

Embossed Hearts Birthday Card

A sweet, heart-felt birthday card made with The Greetery’s Shortbread Shapes: Rectangle Hearts 3D embossing folder and Poppystamps Modest Banner Greetings foil and cut die set.

Cardbase: I folded an 4.25×11 sheet of pink 100lb. cardstock in half to create a top-fold 4.25×5.5-inch card. The green mat is a marbled cardstock cut 4×4.875-inches. The embossed piece was trimmed down to 3.75x 4.25-inches and colored with markers and a gel pen. A pink ribbon is under the white hearts that were leftover from another card. (I don’t know what the die was, but it cut hearts in two sizes.)

Sentiments: The “Happy Birthday to You” is a foiled sentiment That I had batch-produced some time back using the Poppystamps Modest Banner Greetings foil and cut die set.

Envelope:  The card fits into an A2 (4.25x 5.5-inches) size envelope decorated with some of the colored hearts.

A Reindeer Dog Christmas Card

I have a neighbor who has the happiest small dog that when I saw this PoppyStamps die set, I thought of this dog in his winter vest.

I cut all the pieces from cardstock in my scrap bin. I think the patterned papers are from Photoplay while the other solids are a mixture of weights and textures.

Using a prescored A2 card base in my stash that is green outside and white inside, the die cuts were glued in place including all the sentiments. Strips were added to the front and back of the card and envelope flap for decoration.

Haunted House Easel Card

I have a crafty friend who loves Halloween. This card was made for her using Poppy Stamps Neighborhood Home Pop Up Easel set along with their Whittle Monsters, Whittle Creatures and Boo Poe Script dies.

It took just a morning to make. The die cutting of the Whittle creatures and monsters took the most time, but they went together easily and used up leftover scraps. For the house I had to make some decisions on open or pained windows. I decided some of the creatures should be outside rather than behind windows.

The easel stop is four layers of green and orange cardstock die-cut using the Boo Poe Script die.

I included a CRX sheet to show how to open the card. (You can download the CRX sheet for free.)

Stitched Flowers for a Spring Birthday

Luscious purple, blue and lavender flowers, stitched with shiny embroidery floss hoovering over a raised matte gold Happy Birthday make for a simple yet elegant card.

I used a stitched flower die from Spellbinders that originally was part of their Large Die of the Month Club but is now available to everyone via their on-line shop. Initially I die-cut into an 8.5 x 5.5 inches sheet of pale blue heavy cardstock that was in my stash. I stitched it completely before trimming it down to the final 4.5 x 5.75 inches to fit on a 5 x 6 inches card base.

The larger flower petals and leaves were outline or chain stitched before filling in the centers of them using three strands of floss. The yellow stamens are French knots. While I knotted the floss ends when starting, I finished the flowers on the back side by adding dots of glue to seal the thread ends and add dimension to the stitched frame.

The Poppy Stamps “Happy Birthday – Poe Script” sentiment was cut three times from a gold piece of junk mail and glued together. The words were glued directly to the card base after determining the placement with the stitched frame. The frame was attached to the card base with thick foam squares.

Mother and Daughter Cards

Mothers and daughters can be so alike and yet not see it.  Here are two cards made for a woman who has recently received a job promotion and a birthday card for her 13-year-old daughter.

Both cards are made using a Studio Light stamp and die set designed by Karin Joan called Betty. It is much like creating paper dolls. The main head and shoulders die cuts four individual pieces -head, 2 ears and the neck and shoulders. I laid out the position of the hair, ears, facial features stamps as well as the jewelry stamps before I did anything else. Next, I stamped and heat embossed the facial features.

The three hair dies can be combined in a multitude of ways to create different looks. Both the mother and daughter cards use the back full hair piece placed at different heights to create long or short hair. The front bangs pieces are different. The daughter’s hair is accentuated by a large bow.

The set comes with several collar line options. I have used the V-neck for the mother and the off-the-shoulder cut for the daughter. For jewelry on the mother, I’ve used a flower hair pin stamp for the earrings (stamped and heat embossed before the head was glued over the hair) and the heart and chain stamps for the necklace.

For the sentiment on the mother’s card, I used the sentiment stamp included in the Betty set to stamp and heat emboss the “She believed she could, so she did!” and die-cut the “Happy Birthday.” (The words on the stamp “so she did!” are so fine, I found that they didn’t heat emboss well, so I stamped that line in black ink and then cut it out and glued over the blurred embossed one.) Next the sentiment was die-cut using a scalloped stitched rectangle from Tutti Designs. For the daughter’s card, a Poppy Stamps “Happy Birthday” die was used.

Both cards used layered mats of printed papers on both the front and back covers. Inside the cards have been left blank for personal messages.
